Program Overview

This program, sponsored for CME credit by Rush University Medical Center entitled: "Therapeutic Strategies for Antiretroviral Treatment Experienced Patients" is available for clinicians interested in the clinical management of antiretroviral-experienced HIV patients. The information in this educational activity was planed and produced in accordance with ACCME Essentials. The following topic areas will be presented in lecture, case-based presentation and group discussion formats by a distinguished faculty:

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this CME activity, the participant should be able to:

• Describe the effective use of currently approved ARVs in treatment-experienced patients
• Cite recent clinical trial data on new ARV agents, including those from existing and novel classes
• Discuss the benefits, risks and alternatives regarding the use of newer therapies in ARV-experienced patients
• Outline the issues surrounding the timing for starting a new regimen or therapy in ARV-experienced patients
• Explain the connection between the risks associated with low-level viremia and development of resistance
